Which paper for which job?
A rough guide. Every child is different, so go bigger if writing looks cramped and smaller once letters sit neatly on the line. Tap a card to open that paper below.
Tips for using the paper
- Handwriting paper: small letters like a, c and o sit between the dashed midline and the baseline. Tall letters like b, d and h reach up to the top line, and tails on g, p and y drop to the bottom line.
- Column methods: one digit per square keeps ones under ones and tens under tens. Leave a square between each calculation so carried and exchanged digits have room.
- Graphs: 5 mm squares are easier for younger children to count. Graph paper with 1 mm lines suits accurate plotting later on.
- Isometric dots: turn the sheet so the dots form upright columns, then join dots to draw cubes and cuboids.
- Save ink: the ink saver colour prints thin, light lines and skips any coloured bands.
